KIT to be happy on Christmas

It has been a busy year. Many people around me complain that they are more tired than the previous years; the time has passed very quickly and there were a lot of things to do.

During these holidays, I felt the need to do things at my own pace and according to my needs; more than ever, I gave up on many things that I usually did.

I leave these thoughts as a reminder for the coming years:

  • Buy gifts earlier. Black Friday is a good time to place your first orders. In this way, you spread out your expenses and you have time to think about gifts in advance.
  • Buy books. You can use them as gifts for many people. If you don't give them now, keep them and give them on future events.
  • To donate or to not donate? It is a custom for many NGOs to organize fundraising campaigns before holidays. Choose to get involved as much as you can and as much as you feel, even if this means not being part of the group's tradition.
  • Secret Santa? If you love the people in that group, definitely yes. And choose gifts that you will like first for your own.
  • Corporate party: analyze the context. If it represents you, go and have fun with those people. If you are not a fan of drinking and clubbing, you can choose not to go or to stay just a few.
  • Family dinner: for the last few years, I have been debating with my mother about the topic of “less is more”. Strictly necessary for food, but it can help to use that time to see how everyone feels and what thoughts we have at the end of the year.
  • Get into the atmosphere early: don't focus on making the house super clean because it doesn't keep for a long time. But take out the Christmas decorations, go to a carol concert, walk around the city to see the holiday lights, try several holiday recipes (who doesn't like sweets?!), read a book with a holiday theme, or watch a specific movie (“Home Alone” forever ;) ).
  • Try to get out of town for at least a day during the holidays or walk around the town like a tourist.
  • Connect with your spiritual side, whatever it might look like. If you don't know what it's like, take some time to find out because there isn’t a clear recipe, and things can still change from one year to another.
  • Prepare material for a vision board for January.
  • Read your accomplishments tickets from the current year.
  • Seek to belong to a community. You don't have a place to spend the New Year's Eve? No worries - ask around in your community. Maybe holiday parties don't always need to be placed in a restaurant; sometimes it helps just to gather at someone's house.
  • Write a letter to yourself to be read during the next Christmas.
  • Laugh and be grateful. Focus on self-care.

Happy Christmas!
